Our 4040 Reverse Osmosis System with 10” Filter Housings comes assembled and tested with a choice of Refyne LP-4040 or Spectrum PRO-4040 membrane.
If you have very low pressure we would recommend the PR0-4040 membrane which works well with low pressure. For pressure over 50 PSI either LP-4040 or PRO-4040 membrane would be suitable.
At low pressure of approximately 30 PSI the PRO-4040 can achieve around 80 litres an hour in the summer, reducing in the winter. With an approximate pressure of 50 PSI then both membranes can achieve around 140 litres an hour in the summer, again reducing in the winter. p>
At low pressure of approximately 30 PSI the PRO-4040 can achieve a rejection rate of around 96/97% when set at the correct waste to pure ratio. At 100 PSI the PRO-4040 and LP-4040 can achieve a rejection rate of around 99%. p>
To achieve maximum output on your 4040 Reverse Osmosis System, the input pressure should be 80/100 PSI along with our recommended 4040 Booster pump (see below).
Filter housings come with an embossed bracket and male Hoselock fitting on the inlet, plus John Guest push fitting on the outlet which is connected to ½” JG clear hose with an inline pressure gauge . The other end connects to the John Guest push fit which makes it very easy to disconnect the membrane housing when changing the membrane. p>
For pre-filters we now install Refyne FibreOnyx along with a sediment filter. The 10" Refyne FibreOnyx needs to be changed after 52,500 litres and the sediment filter after 10,000 litres.
If you choose 20" housings, we recommend that the 20" Refyne FibreOnyx Filter is changed after 105,000 litres and the sediment filter after 22,000 litres.
Our systems are fully tested before dispatch.
Installation is relatively simple by following the steps below:
First secure the membrane housing and filter housings with brackets.
Insert the clear tube into the push fit fitting on the membrane housing.
Connect your garden hose onto the inlet of the filter housing. Attach a second hose to the pure water outlet and a third hose to the waste water outlet then backflush (gate valve open) for a minimum of 3 to 4 hours.
Finally, set the gate valve to 60% waste 40% pure and over a period of time the output ppm of the 4040 Reverse Osmosis System will drop.
Please be aware that many advertisments for low pressure membranes do not have the applied pressure specified and are often found to be rated at 150 psi!

Our 4021 RO System is capable of producing approximately 960 litres in 24 hours with low pressure in the region of 30 PSI. If used with our 4021 RO Booster pump it is capable of around 3000 litres in 24 hours.
Many suppliers pre-drill the gate valve which fixes the pressure setting with no way of adjusting. We do not pre-drill the gate valve as water pressure is different for each user and the wrong pressure setting can reduce the life of the membrane. An undrilled gate valve allows you to set the correct waste to pure ratio for your water pressure. We recommend the setting to be approximately 60% waste to 40% treated water.
Please note that if a float valve is fitted on the treated water outlet, a solenoid should to be fitted in-line to stop the flow of water. If a solenoid is not fitted, the waste water will flow continuously until the water flow is turned off. To automate the process, we recommend using the V16 RO Booster Controller.
Our R/O systems are built to order and rigorously tested before leaving the warehouse which ensures they are ready to be installed once received. We aim to build and ship out our systems within 4 working days of ordering.

We have tried and tested this RO Booster Pump and found it to be the pump most suited to our 4021 System.
It can produce approximately 1 liter of pure water every 40 seconds when set to an operating pressure of 80 PSI.
It is capable of continuous operation and is compatible with the V16 RO System Controller.

We have tried and tested this booster pump for over a year now and have found it to be the pump best suited to our 4040 System.
This is a very powerful pump, so we strongly advise that you use good quality Hoselock fittings
The motor we have changed this as we heard customers concerns they would like a quieter pump which this pump is.
Outlet and Inlet ports are John Guest push fittings. We provide 1/2" barbed stems to connect the hose
Ensure that the feed tap is in full open flow and that hoses (if used) are free of kinks
Using a 2500GPD RO membrane, this pump can produce around 1 litre per 12 sec of pure, based on 80 psi pressure
Pump is mounted on a sturdy PVC Board
Can achieve 400 litres per hour with a 2800GPD ro membrane
Warning: Allowing the pump to run dry will result in damage

This RO System is a must for those who are looking to automate their Reverse Osmosis set up. Simply set it up and your RO System will automatically fill your tank and flush the membrane.
Can be used with our 4021 and 4040 systems, with or without a booster pump.
The key feature of this controller is its ability to stop the flow of water entering the RO System once the float valve is activated.
A common mistake is to insert a float valve which stops the product water, but not the wastewater. This controller will stop both product and wastewater which gives added protection to the membrane.
Please note fittings for the bypass loop are not included. We can supply these separately.
We also recommend fitting an overflow pipe in the holding tank to prevent flooding should the float switch fail.
An inline solenoid is connected in between the filter housings and membrane housing. When the float switch is activated a signal is sent to the solenoid, which then shuts and stops the water flowing into the membrane housing. This also halts the water entering the booster pump, if connected, and filter housings.
Another positive feature of this controller is the automatic flush facility. This can be set to operate at the starting cycle or can be set to activate every hour. We set up out RO Systems to flush at the starting cycle for 5 mins which avoids TDS levels rising and prolongs the life of the resin.
In addition, the gate valve is set, which means there is no need to open and close the gate valve each time you flush the RO Membrane.
A solenoid is fitted in a by-pass loop before and after the gate valve. Please see drawing in link.
Each time the Controller enters flush mode the solenoid opens, resulting in the majority of water draining away. Regular flushing is key in prolonging the life of the RO membrane.
Finally, if you require a booster pump, this is plugged into the RO Controller. As soon as the float valve kicks into operation, the RO Controller cuts off the power to the booster pump. It is imperative to always have the water supply on when using a booster pump, as running it when dry will cause damage.
The RO Controller has 2 options for fill. It can be set to operate automatically when the float switch drops. The second option is to delay production by up to 10 minutes from activation of the float.

This 450 GPD RO System is competitively priced and ideal for those who wish to produce pure water over a 24 hour period into a holding tank.
At low pressure of 30 PSI it will take approx 2 mins 10 secs to produce a litre of pure water. At 60 PSI it will take approx 1 min 16 secs to produce 1 litre of pure water.
Waste to Pure ratio is approx 60% waste / 40% pure.
Rejection rate is dependent on water hardness and water pressure and can range from 95% to 98% rejection rate.
